Lent is not only a time of sacrifice but also a time to do something extra for our Lord. Although the Knights are preparing for our parish fish frys, they found time for a service project. On Saturday, February 21, a group of about one dozen Knights converged on a house in Slidell to build this handicap ramp for someone in need.
Richard Roberts coordinated the efforts, made the drawing, and determined the amount of materials needed for this project. This crew exemplified what it means to be a Christian, because this was a labor of love. The previous ramp was so steep that it was impossible to push a wheel chair up to the front door. The inside floor was also very unstable. Several men demolished the old ramp, while another team removed parts of the floor. Others cut wood to make the railing.
Donations from events such as fish frys, the Golf Tournament, and Condo Raffle provide funding that is used for service projects as well as supporting local charities. Thanks to all our parishioners and sponsors that support the Knights. After all, “WE DO MORE THAN FRY FISH.”
