The March of Life rolled through the nation’s snow-covered, bitterly cold capital with thousands of hardy souls chanting, walking and listening to speakers press their cause against abortion rights. From January 18 to January 23, 500 pilgrims from the Archdiocese of New Orleans took part in the March for Life, a prayerful protest aimed to rebuke the Roe vs. Wade law that made abortion legal in the United States. Five youth from St. John of the Cross Parish, Abbey and Ben Hollingsworth, Lillian Guttuso, Andrew Benfatti, and Cai Suprean, traveled to Washington D.C. to participate in the annual stand for life. “We may be freezing, but we are freezing for the best cause in the world,” Patrick Kelly, chairman of the march, said to loud applause on the National Mall.
Our council contributed $100 to each of our youths to help defray travel expenses incurred by the families of our 5 participants. Thanks for supporting the Knights activities during the year which makes this possible.
