Women pick up Slidell police tab at steak restaurant

SLIDELL, LA (WVUE)

A simple act of kindness is making big waves after a manager and her server at Outback Steakhouse picked up the check for a group of dining police officers.

Arline Wood, who’s worked at the Outback in Slidell for 18 years, and her server, Zoë Rao, decided to make sure the four police officers who spent their dinner break at the restaurant knew how much they were appreciated.

“They’re the sweetest guys, I enjoy waiting on them,” Rao said.

“They care about the community, they care about everybody, they’re just great guys, our whole police force is great and these guys at night, I went to Zoe and I said, let’s take care of it,” Wood said.

The pair picked up the $67 tab and added a small note thanking them for their service. The next day, Slidell Police posted a picture of the receipt on Facebook, which was quickly shared more than 1,000 times, but the duo never expected the attention.

The police today have a difficult job and the media is much to blame. Police have to think twice before drawing their weapons and unfortunately it has cost some their lives. Our local police department and police across America are due our respect!

Thanks Outback for supporting these officers, community and our Golf Tournament.
